FVGIT INREPARABILE TEMFVS

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

Despite feeling drained and out of sorts, today I went out for a lunch with my long-time boss Mustin. (Sure glad I did!) He and the OneUps are in town for the PAX convention, and I finally got to meet the charismatic and generous gentleman that he is.

As a bonus, the clouds were crazy today! I feel the most awesome formations in the NW happen in late spring, but today was totally on par.

Check out the billowing horizon! (and click for larger view)

Then, while walking past the Washington Athletic Club I saw this beautiful plaque in the sidewalk:

time flies

Time flies never to return

My quick search didn’t yield anything about its history, although it seems like the correct spelling of the phrase would be “FVGIT IRREPARABILE TEMPVS.” I wouldn’t know, and the plaque is still awesome. It’s on 6th & Union if you wanna see. :)

More crazy cloud layers on the way home.

Hullo most venerable surfers of the intrawebs. :D

Hello and welcome to the East-27 journal. Appropriately titled Ohanashi-banashi (”small talk” in Japanese), I hereby dedicate it to art and all cool things of artsy nature.

If you’re new here, my name is Olga Ulanova, and East-27 is home to my illustration and design work. If I’ve had the pleasure of your company before, yes, I have upgraded from Olga Bosserdt to my spiffy shiny new last name. ^_^

It is a lazy, cloudy Sunday in Seattle, on this 19th day of August. Why start a blog today of all days? No reason, really. Although I’ve been waiting for the re-launch of my site to do it, for some reason I felt today is the day! Today is the day to just start a journal. Just go for it. Just because. :)

(The East-27 re-launch is coming, possibly very soon. ^_^)

So why a journal? Well, I think in the depths of the ever-changing internet, a blog is a great way to directly communicate with you guys, and a way for you all to connect with me, should you wish to do so. :) A journal makes it easy to keep track of what’s going on in my part of the world, and might provide some entertainment to brighten up your day. A most worthwhile cause.

Well, what can I do with this journal?

  • I’d like to post doodles and sketches that don’t make it into the gallery. Good practice for me and something fun for you!
  • Share various artistic findings and inspirations. There have been times when I’d stumble upon something awesome/pretty/awe-inspiring on the web, and I felt I had no one to share it with. (I take my dear friends very seriously, and so do not spam their mailboxes on daily basis. :) However youse guys are fair game. >:)
  • I will do my best to stay away from politics (that’s not why we’re here), but I would really like to touch upon the environment, global responsibility and sustainability as it applies to the arts and artists. Someday. Heavy stuff, but very necessary – I’ve always been pretty passionate about preserving the most beautiful thing in the universe. :)
  • Should I post general gallery updates in the journal? Since the remodeled gallery will have it’s own RSS feed, I haven’t decided if that would be totally redundant… Hm. I welcome your thoughts on the subject.

Whatever happens here and whatever this journal may turn into, you’re all welcome to stick around for the ride!
