“No Internet” experiment - week 1

Hello cousins! Week one of my experiment has gone, and the results are encouraging. :) I have no withdrawal symptoms (there’s still net access at work), and all my mysteriously important interweb “things” did not disintegrate without me looking at them every night.

Sunday was the toughest day. There was nothing on tv, I finished daily chores, didn’t have anywhere to go, but couldn’t get myself to draw anything—so for about an hour I literally sat and didn’t know what to do. Very strange sensation. That night I fell asleep at 6:30. @_@

But afterwards, things began looking up! In addition to the little sketch session last Wednesday, I drew the last two days as well. It’s not every day, not yet, but even these small steps feel so good. ^_^ Inspiration for this week: my little Kofude ink brush. I’ve had this thing since college, but never got much use out of it besides practicing kanji. Well, after looking at the lovely artwork for Okami I wanted to try inking with a brush, just for fun and practice.

My results are amateurish at best, but I am definitely liking the feel of the brush! Inking hair like this is the only way to go.

Some quick yukata and kimono sketches (each under 15 min). Last Saturday’s trip to the Cherry Blossom Festival at Seattle Center got me back in the Japanese mood. :)
